Warranty
What the warranty actually covers
90 days on labour, 365 days on parts, genuine OEM parts only. Written on the invoice, not implied — and the exclusions are on this page rather than buried in a paragraph you sign at the door.

- Labour 90 days
- If the same fault returns inside the labour period, we come back and there is no second diagnostic fee. The clock starts the day the repair is completed, not the day you called.
- Parts 365 days
- Every part we fit is genuine oem parts. A part that fails inside the parts period is replaced, and the labour to swap it is covered too while the labour period is still running.
- Diagnostic $129
- Charged once. Credited toward the repair if you go ahead, and never charged again for a warranty return on the same fault.
Why the parts period is longer than the labour period
Because they fail differently. Labour faults — a connection not remade properly, a gasket seated wrong, a drain cleared but not proven — show up in days or weeks. If our work is going to be wrong, it is wrong early, and 90 days is a generous window for that to surface.
Component faults are the opposite. A control board or a valve with a manufacturing defect in it can run for months before it declares itself, so the part period runs the full 365 days. That period only makes sense because we fit genuine oem parts: it is the manufacturer's own coverage on their own component, not an aftermarket substitute with a sticker on the box.
What is not covered
- A different fault on the same appliance. A new symptom is a new diagnosis, and we will say so rather than stretch the old ticket over it.
- Damage from a later power event. A board that survives one storm and dies in the next one is a second failure, not the first one recurring.
- Parts you supplied. If you bought the component yourself we will fit it and warrant our labour, but we cannot warrant a part we did not source.
- Work another company performed before or after ours, including anything reconnected differently when the cabinet was moved.
- Consequential loss — spoiled food, a ruined floor, a missed dinner. Every repair company excludes this and we would rather write it down than let you discover it.
- Appliances outside our scope. We only ever work on one manufacturer, so there is nothing else for a warranty to attach to.
How to make a claim
Call the same number you booked on and say it is a warranty return. Have the invoice date and the model and serial from the plate inside the cabinet. We do not require a form, a portal, or a written notice — the invoice is the contract and the phone is how you use it.
Warranty visits are scheduled inside normal working hours like any other visit. We do not run an emergency service, and a warranty claim does not create one.
Two things this warranty is not
It is not a service contract. There is no annual fee, no maintenance plan, and nothing renews. When the period ends it ends, and you pay for the next visit like anyone else.
It is not a manufacturer warranty and it does not extend, replace or interact with one. Doctors Lake Refrigeration is an independent company; any coverage still running from Sub-Zero on a newer appliance is theirs and is claimed through them, not through us. If your unit is still inside that coverage we will usually tell you to use it before you use us.
EPA Section 608 certified technicians (refrigerant handling). Refrigerant work is regulated and we do not sublet it.
