It is, quite often, the whole repair. ## Gasket, hinge, panel, or level These get conflated, and they are four separate faults. **The gasket** is the part that hardens, cracks or takes a permanent set. Sub-Zero door seals are magnetic; a gasket can look perfectly intact and still have lost enough of its pull to leave a gap you cannot see. The paper test around the whole perimeter is quick and tells you where the gap is, which matters, because a leak at the hinge side means something different from a leak at the handle side. **The hinge** carries a door that is heavier than it looks — more so on integrated units where a solid custom panel and its hardware are hanging off the same mechanism. Wear here shows up as a door that drops slightly, so the seal is good at the top and open at the bottom.
